English National Ballet appoints executive director

The English National Ballet has appointed former BBC chief Caroline Thomson as executive director, replacing Karen Napier who resigned in May.

Thomson, who was deputy director-general of the BBC until September 2012, begins her new role immediately after acting as interim executive director since Napier's departure. Farooq Chaudhry has also been announced as producer at the company and is to 'develop the commercial potential of the company's productions'.
